France departments reporting Chikungunya, Dengue, Measles, and Zika cases in 2025
France Travel Vaccinations 2025
The Public Health France and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommend various routine and travel vaccines for visitors arriving in France in 2025. According to Public Health France, surveillance of Chikungunya, Dengue, and Zika disease cases is based on Aedes mosquitoes, notably Aedes albopictus, which primarily transmit these viruses in mainland France. At the start of 2025, 81 French departments were colonized by the vector mosquito Aedes albopictus.

France Chikungunya Cases
As of late 2025, over 800 locally acquired and 1,000 travel-related Chikungunya cases have been confirmed. Additionally, 45 deaths linked to chikungunya, including 22 directly related. Among these deaths, 2 were neonatal deaths.
On July 1, 2025, the regional health agency in Grand Est, France, reported its first locally acquired case of chikungunya in Bas-Rhin. As of June 23, 2025, two unrelated indigenous cases of chikungunya have been identified, one in the Var department and the other in the Hérault department. Chikungunya vaccinations are offered in France.
France Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever Virus
A serologic survey of animals in southern France published on September 24, 2025, reveals that Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever virus (CCHFV) has been circulating among cattle and wildlife for years, with antibodies against the Tickborne virus identified in over 2% of samples. CCHFV is fatal in up to 40% of infected people.
France Dengue Cases
France reported 26 local cases and over 900 travel-related Dengue cases in 2025. As of July 23, 2025, ARS Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes reports that most dengue cases in mainland France involve international travelers who contracted the mosquito-transmitted virus while visiting a tropical region. Approximately 50 kilometers southwest of Lyon, France, Saint-Chamond, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, has confirmed a second locally acquired case of Dengue in 2025. In 2025, over 500 imported cases of dengue fever were reported. In 2024, France reported 82 locally transmitted cases of dengue fever. Dengue outbreaks were identified in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, Occitanie, and Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes regions. Since 2023, more than 60% of Dengue cases have originated from the French Antilles, where an epidemic has been ongoing since mid-2023.

France Oropouche Virus Risk
An analysis concluded in 2024 that there was a high risk of an Oropouche epidemic in French Guiana, Martinique, and Guadeloupe. The uncertainty of this analysis is high in French Guiana and Guadeloupe and low in Martinique.
France West Nile Virus
The first indigenous case of West Nile virus in 2025 was identified in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region and presented symptoms for the first time on July 15, 2025. As of September 15, 2025, 32 locally acquired cases of West Nile virus have been reported in France. Cases have been identified from 10 departments.
France Zika Cases
Public Health France reported over 11 imported cases of Zika in 2025. Zika is a viral infection transmitted primarily by Aedes mosquitoes and through sexual transmission.
