Brazil Travel Vaccines July 2025

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), and the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) provide guidance on the risks associated with traveling to the Federative Republic of Brazil in 2025. The World Health Organization (WHO), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the Government of Canada have issued recommendations for travelers visiting Brazil regarding vaccination. A listing of vaccines is posted at this Vax-Before-Travel link.

The Lancet published an analysis revealing that, as of 2023, Brazil had numerous children who had received no doses of vaccine.

Brazil Chikungunya Vaccine 2025

Chikungunya arrived in Brazil in 2014. The first cases were identified in Oiapoque, Amapá, with a total of 1,444 infected individuals; in the same year, another epidemic occurred in Feira de Santana, Bahia.

Brazil Dengue Vaccine 2025

In February 2025, Brazil's public health service launched a Dengue vaccination campaign for children. But because Brazil is only expecting 6.6 million doses of QDENGA in 2025, vaccinations will be limited. São Paulo has led the country in dengue-related deaths, with 692 in 2025.

Brazil Oropouche Outbreak 2025

Brazil's Ministry of Health reported over 11,000 Oropouche cases in June 2025. In 2024, 13,801 cases were reported. Currently, there are no vaccines available for Oropouche.

Brazil Yellow Fever 2025

The overall risk associated with the yellow fever situation in the Americas Region, particularly in endemic countries such as Brazil, is classified as ¨High.¨ Yellow fever virus (YFV) was detected in two distinct geographic locations in São Paulo State, Brazil, between September 2024 and February 2025. Phylogenetic analysis of six new genomes revealed a reintroduction in 2022 from Midwest Brazil.

Brazil Zika Outbreak 2025

Brazil's Ministry of Health reported 14,871 cases of Zika as of July 2025. Currently, there are no vaccines available for the Zika virus.

Brazil Travel Advisories

The U.S. Department of State, the UK, and other governments have issued Travel Alerts for Brazil regarding health, Safety, and security in 2025. On June 11, 2025, the U.S. Embassy and Consulates in Brazil posted the CDC's Global Level 1 Travel Health Notice regarding measles cases in Brazil. The U.S. State Department has updated its travel advisory to Level 2, Exercise Increased Caution in Brazil due to civil unrest in some areas. Located in South America, Brazil received over 100 million international travelers in 2024.

Brazil Healthcare Services 2025

According to the UK government, foreign nationals are entitled to emergency medical treatment in Brazilian public hospitals. Public hospitals in Brazil, particularly in major cities, often experience overcrowding, resulting in long wait times for a bed and a shortage of medical supplies. Private hospitals will not accept you unless you can demonstrate sufficient financial means or insurance coverage to cover your treatment.
