Brazil Chikungunya
Chikungunya arrived in Brazil in 2014. The first cases were identified in Oiapoque, Amapá, with a total of 1,444 infected individuals; in the same year, another epidemic occurred in Feira de Santana, Bahia.

In February 2025, Brazil's public health service launched a Dengue vaccination campaign for children. But because Brazil is only expecting 6.6 million doses of QDENGA in 2025, vaccinations will be limited. São Paulo has led the country in dengue-related deaths, with 692 in 2025.

Brazil Yellow Fever
The overall risk associated with the yellow fever situation in the Americas Region is classified as High, particularly in endemic countries such as Brazil. The Yellow fever virus was detected in two distinct geographic locations in São Paulo State, Brazil, between September 2024 and February 2025. Phylogenetic analysis of six new genomes revealed a reintroduction in 2022 from Midwest Brazil.
Brazil Zika
Brazil's Ministry of Health reported over 24,000 suspected and 1,840 confirmed cases of Zika as of 2025. Most cases occurred in states such as Mato Grosso, São Paulo, Acre, Rio de Janeiro, and Rio Grande do Norte. Currently, there are no vaccines available for the Zika virus.

The U.S. Department of State, the UK, and other governments have issued Travel Alerts for Brazil regarding health, Safety, and security in 2025. On June 11, 2025, the U.S. Embassy and Consulates in Brazil posted the CDC's Global Level 1 Travel Health Notice regarding measles cases in Brazil. The U.S. State Department has updated its travel advisory to Level 2, Exercise Increased Caution in Brazil due to civil unrest in some areas. Located in South America, Brazil received over 100 million international travelers in 2024.
Brazil Healthcare Services 2025
According to the UK government, foreign nationals are entitled to emergency medical treatment in Brazilian public hospitals. Public hospitals in Brazil, particularly in major cities, often experience overcrowding, leading to long wait times for beds and shortages of medical supplies. Private hospitals will not accept you unless you can demonstrate sufficient financial means or insurance coverage to cover your treatment.
