30 Additional Acute Hepatitis Cases in Children Investigated

The U.S. CDC's National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases reported yesterday the updated number of Persons Under Investigation (PUI) in the USA had reached 246.
As of June 1, 2022, this data indicates a 13% increase of 30 additional children infected by an acute liver inflammation of unknown etiology in one week.
CDC staff confirmed there had been multiple liver transplants and related fatalities.
'While rare, children can still have serious hepatitis, and we don't always know the cause,' says the CDC website.
'A PUI does not mean this person is a confirmed case. So this number may go up or down as CDC and states review medical charts and learn more.'
According to the WHO, 'most researchers involved in these investigations have not formulated a hypostasis and continue to question causality vs. coincidence.'
Investigations have not found an association between hepatitis viruses (A to E) with serum transaminases greater than 500 IU/l in these children.
Most (75%) of these pediatric cases have found adenovirus hAd41-F, and some children were infected with the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus.
In addition to the 38 U.S. states, about thirty-three countries have reported over 650 infections, with 99 additional cases pending classification.
