Rio de Janeiro's carnival parade scheduled for February 2021, has been postponed indefinitely, organizers Tweeted on September 24, 2020. This is the first carnival postponement in about 100 years. This announcement applies to Liesa's formal carnival event but does not apply to Rio's local street parties that take place at the same time, the BBC reported.
During July 2020, São Paulo's carnival parade was delayed until October 2021.
